Great shots Joe! I know from experience how hard it is to photograph these wrens: they move so quickly!OzEclipse wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 9:57 pm The superb fairy wrens are apparently dwindling in numbers, reducing rapidly in the cities and along the coast as development results in destruction habitat. Keep up the good work.

Those little birds are gorgeous. It always saddens me to hear of species in decline, especially due to lack of suitable habitat.OzEclipse wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 9:57 pm The superb fairy wrens are apparently dwindling in numbers, reducing rapidly in the cities and along the coast as development results in destruction habitat. I picture a Steller's jay in Utah, when coming with my spouse (30th marriage anniversary, and Sun eclipse).
It was seeking worms and jumped here and there :
Enjoy !

Re: The Great Photography Thread - REVIVED!
We now have small orange Chanterelle mushrooms growing around an old stump in our front yard. I was going to finally remove the stump, but it keeps putting out new shoots: The best known is the edible Scotch bonnet (Marasmius oreades), commonly known as the fairy ring champignon. One of the largest rings ever found is near Belfort in northeastern France. Formed by Infundibulicybe geotropa, it is thought to be about 600 metres (2,000 ft) in diameter and over 700 years old.
And here is more information for you at:

We have the odd Jenny Wren in the garden. Can't believe how loud they are for such a small bird!

Thanks for these piccies Phill. They are pretty common around here too: and they are quite aggressive towards other species.Ozypic wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 11:07 am This is todays effort at our bit of bush at the local sports area that we can walk too. They are Australian native Noisey Miners, and like the imported indian miners they to are becoming a pest.

I was babysitting my 20 month-old grandson the other day at a local park, and he pointed out and named the noisy miners, swamp hens, coots, magpies, wood-ducks, moor hens and crow. (Pa is teaching him well...)
