This image has two main attractions
NGC 4151 and
NGC 4145 along with several mid-size galaxies and many background galaxies.
NGC 4151 and 4145 are both spirals - at about 58 million light years distant, but look very different from each other. Also present are the mid-size galaxies -
NGC 4156, IC3014, and IC3012 - distances are 320, 300, and 299 million light years respectively.
The full
FOV image shows many of the background galaxies - some of which are identified in the annotation. There are multiple Quasars which are the furthest objects in the full
FOV image - the furthest has a redshift of 3.302 and a light travel time (or Lookback) of 11.77 billion years.
The image below is a crop of
NGC 4151 and 4145 - it links to the main page with image and information. There is also a link below to the full
FOV pan and zoom as well as a link to the full
FOV annotated pan and zoom. The full resolution image has an image scale of about 0.99 arcsec/pixel.
