I was having a bit of late EAA session and was looking for one last object to observe. So, I imported the latest supernova discoveries into AstroPlanner and found 2024gy (type 1A) in NGC 4216. The supernova was very bright, shining at the edge of its host galaxy. The first image taken with my CPC-800 and 533mm, shows the supernova and NGC 4216, flanked by NGC 4222 (left) and NGC 4206 (right). The second image shows the location of 2024gy, using SharpCaps Deep Sky Annotation.
A nice way to finish off an EAA session.

The supernova chose a nice spot to put on a show. Those three edge-on galaxies are a beautiful backdrop.
Have fun.

That's awesome; I'd love to even just see that. First I need clear skies...
Thanks!
