"Observing Report for 11 January 2024 - seeing double for a bit"

Hauling out his 12" f/5 Dob to the backyard at home, KT4HX offers up a fine report on double star observing as well as some probing the depths of the bright emission nebulae and associated clusters in the constellation Orion, which this month is in a prime spot for observing.

He closed out his session with the Crab (M1) which as most of us know is a supernovae remnant of the bright star noted by Chinese astronomers in the mid eleventh century, and may also have been represented on petroglyphs etched by Native Americans in New Mexico.

Congratulations Alan on winning the VROD award for the day!
