The Moon, Venus and a few others.

I was promised aclear sky for all of an hour between 21.00 and 22.00 last night so didnt bother setting up a rig. Looked out at 21.45 just to confirm the forecast and was greeted by a beautiful crescent and a startlingly bright Venus. Cue much dashing around to get the tripod and camera out and see if I could get something. Of course it does not come close to doing the scene justice but its nice all the same.

See how many named stars you can find - I'm getting Capella, Elnath, Betelgeuse and Bellatrix, possibly Alhena and Aldebaran just sloping off into the sunset.

Very nice David, looks so serene :D I'm noticing too, you still have twilight at 9:45, wow!

Well done and hope the rest of your week pans out,

Hi Mark, thanks for that. Yes at this latitude the days are lengthening at a rapid rate. In another couple of weeks it will take me longer to set up the imaging rig than I'll be able to image for. :(

Of course the upside is that by November I'll be back to nearly 12 hours astro-dark

Take care

David.
