Does these mounts work ok to use a cell phone to capture pictures? I know it’s not High grade photos from a digital Camera. Thanks.

I purchased one but could not get it to work. Another came with some binoculars that I returned to Amazon, could not get that one to work either. Here is a bunch of them https://www.amazon.com/slp/smart-phone- ... meq5osy4yp

I also had a couple, no luck.
If you have a lot of patience you might have better luck.

I had 2, and they were not cheapies, I wanted to throw them in the woods LOL.

I have taken some nice photos of the moon with a cell phone rig. It is a convenient way to whet your appetite for astrophotography.

Here is an example.

I think my problem was lack of patience.
I had several, the Meade one was probably the better ones that I had.

Good luck, and let us know your results.

Will do. One thing I may try is trying to use my gopro session 4 I have. Its the little cube with no screen. Its lite and small. Takes great pictures and videos. Used it on my recent cozumel vacation.

Seems like a good idea to try the GoPro. I have the Celestron NXY but the weight of it with the phone on makes it a little clunky, especially on my refractor. A lighter camera and adaptor combination may work better.

If you Google a bit, there are several sites with pretty simple DIY instructions. I have a phone holder from my car that I no longer use, so I'm going to see if I can MacGyver something with that for my iPhone.

I've enjoyed mine. It wasn't too expensive and allowed some cell simple phone shots.I think Mark's lunar picture was amazing for a cell phone. When giving presentations I always have people who try to hold their cell phones up to the eyepiece. I like to use my cell phone bracket with a 32mm eyepiece on my 10" dob. The ones who want to wait until others leave can stay and give it a try. They usually come away excited with their pictures.

A couple tips on cell phone mount.

1
Put the mount together in the house in the light.
Mount the Eyepiece in the bracket. Not all Eyepieces lend themselves to this. Using an EP with a long Exit Pupil will help in the long run. An EP with threads at the eyecup end are good. You can remove the eyecup and clamp the bracket directly to these threads.
2
Mount the cell phone on the bracket and turn on the camera. Look through the phone cam with the EP and point it at a bright light source. Adjust the phone bracket so the light is at its brightest. Things do not need to be in focus.

3
Tighten up the brackets.
4
Carefully take your assembly and set the EP into your telescope diagonal. You should be pretty close to axis.
5
Fine tube with adjustments on you cell phone mount.
6
Focus the telescope.

It can be a little fiddly but this process is the least frustrating to me when I am doing cell phone of the moon.
Cheers.
