Digicamcontrol software

Now, this is probably not going to be news here; I found this little gem via a Facebook group. I am a Canon 100 user, yep nice small, light camera, but with a none pull out screen. This has given me hours of yoga-like moments trying to see and focus my refractor, I even started to use a loop, as there is no live view magnification.

This program let's me see live view on my 24-inch monitor, and has an Astronomy mode that helps focus on bright stars and measure the size to while focusing.

An easy to use app, that is free and is compatible with most Canons & Nikons so for us DSLR users it is very handy.

Gibbous Moon from last night 10:43 pm, Celestron 102mm refractor, on a Nexstar SE6 mount Canon 100D 250th/sec F5.6 ISO 100.
Baader Semi-APO filter, prime focus (using Digicamcontrol - great free program)

Nice Moon shot Tony.

I used that Digicamcontrol when I first started, but then I discovered APT! It does the job though.

If you want to post your image on the forum instead of the flicker link, you just click the Share button on Flicker and copy the BBCode (1024 max) Then paste that into a post. Job done!

Regards

Graeme

Hi Good Morning!,

DigicamControl is good stuff! I used it to image dso’s with my Nikon D3300. The D3300 isn’t supported by an sdk, so I couldn’t use it with any other image capture software.

Applications like Graeme mentioned Astrophotography Tool (APT) is much more feature packed and very affordable at about $20.

If your Canon isn’t supported by an sdk, then DigicamControl is pretty much your only choice in pc image capture apps. Or, if it is all that you need, enjoy it!

If my Nikon D5300 ever quits, I will be installing DigicamControl and using the D3300 until I get a new camera.

Thanks

Downloaded the demo of APT it looks very inclusive but doesn't support Starry Night 8 Pro my chosen Planetarium app. I may well buy it as I also have Stellarium which is supported, so at some point I will have a go. It is well worth £16.

Now for an easy route to that picture of the moon
