Nexus II WiFi failing or shutting down randomly

Before I email Serge, I wanted to ask if anybody else has seen or heard about this.
Running 8192 encoders into a Nexus II. Talking to an iPhone 7 iOS 12.4 that's running Sky Safari 6 Plus version 6.5.0.1.
About a month or so ago, the Nexus WiFi would occasionally cut out. I'd power cycle the Nexus, reset the WiFi on my phone and all would be well. Now the cut-outs are becoming more frequent, sometimes to the point the WiFi will crash a couple minutes after a reset.
My phone is about 4 years old but has no problems with other WiFi networks. Also I tried running SS6+ on my iPad and saw the same thing at least once.
Phone battery is fully charged as is the Nexus.
