You may not be able to stop progress but you can ignore it ;)

Personally I do not see one of those as progressing my hobby.

I have no problem having this type of eyepiece take over in the not so distant future.
I still remember very well what people said about the so-called ha [quark] eyepieces.
only time will tell.

Somewhere it was reported that it was going to be about $1500 a pop. If so that is well out of my price range.

I know that the sensor is very expensive, that's what I also read $1500 in us

Aside from its ability to electronically enhance the views through, a built in camera, digital display and connectivity to your phone then your phones connectivity to your isp.

Wich means, its not really an optical eyepiece, its battery and your phone battery will go dead really fast and the main features will only work where your phone has enough signal.

Good thing is where cell phones dont work real eyepieces fortunatly still do 😆

This is basically a form of EAA. As night skies are getting worse with light pollution I am afraid it is just a matter of time when most of us would have to switch to some variant of EAA.

I am seriously considering night vision approach

https://www.televue.com/engine/TV3b_page.asp?id=36

and compared to that $1500 does not sound too bad. :D

I still do not take a phone out with me when observing, I have a atlas and some targets written down.
At most for electronics I have a pocket recorder and my audio player. Bach and the heavens! :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I always joked that one day I would design an eyepiece that would beat light pollution and a filter that would let you you see through clouds. Looks like I better get working on that filter

It gets generally positive reviews once you get it set up right. However I know of two people that have them and they could not get them dialed in quite right.

Yes their is a line between observing the 'old' way and the new way , lots do AP now as its much easier than 20 years ago and will get better , but for me I might just look on the Webb ! but I suppose its a hobby lots like AP

This whole deal has got me thinking. What we need is something that can fit over an eyepiece and run to a monitor. Have some basic settings for exposure time, brightness and contrast . The trick would be to make it adaptable to fit any eyepiece and bring it in at a price point that most people can afford.

There is another gadget out there that is similar to it, but at 3x the price. It would probably be worth it as it seems to be a better quality camera and sensor. I will look for it and post the link for it as well
