The Whirlpool Galaxy, from constellation Canes Venatici, one of my favorite galaxy for imaging.
A brand new capture, made in three nights (9th-11th April), with my new newton -Omegon 203/800. In 2021 I mede a capture with SW 150/750, and reprocess it last year.
This time I increased the exposure for LRGB to 5 minutes/frame, in order to capture better the tidal tails. For Ha, I increased the exposure from half an hour to 3.5 hours. But the halos aroud bright stars are more massive at F4 newton (in this case for the star HD 117815). Anyway, I'll post the cropped image, for better resolution.
Total exposure: 18 hours and 30 minutes.
