New Image: the Leo Triplet
This weekend I took my second try at imaging the Leo Triplet. I never get as much time as I want on these deep space ebjects, mostly due to sky conditions and phd 2 losing its guide star but I did get 20 - 4 min subs for this. All which were usable despite the guiding issues I had in phd2
For this I tried something a little different. I usually try doing at least 300 sec subs for galaxies but this time I tried 240 sec subs thinking shorter exposures would help my guiding and keep the stars rounder instead of thecoma like stars I usually get in the corners of my image. Who knows if this helps or not though. I guess it all depends on your setup and how well you are guiding.

Re: New Image: the Leo Triplet
Thanks Kathy!
One thing I'm learning or still working on is how to frame up these objects. I don't have a rotator so I have to learn how to rotate my camera on the focuser to get the framing I want for the pic.
