NGC 40 and CTA 1 with TEC 200FL + QHY268

#1

Post by bernhardhubl »

Hello astrophotographers,

In December and January I used the brighter moonlit nights to take an image of the small but bright planetary nebula NGC 40. To my surprise, faint filaments in Halpha and [OIII] appeared in the background despite the high background brightness due to the moon. A quick search showed that this was the faint supernova remnant CTA 1. This makes the large field around NGC 40 much more exciting.
