I guess M97 is an obvious target to test
DSO's with new gear. So I tried with the Edge HD 8 the other night. I took thirty subs each 60 seconds long. And
DSS would not stack them because the stars were moving around from one image to the next a little. I guess I still haven't sorted out guiding on the ASIair.
So I went through all the images and found 14 that would stack, and this is the result. I guess its OK for a test. I find it frustrating that
DSS (5.1.5) will not align the stars as needed to stack. Google searching shows this is a common issue for folks. But I guess I should sort out my guiding so this isn't an issue. Anyway here is my M97 test image which - despite my frustrations is far and away the best M97 I have ever imaged. So there is that :-)
