March 4th Sun in Ca-K and haze

Hi all, hope things are good :D

Had a fun day yesterday; I installed my new GSO focuser on my old orange tube Celestron C80 made by Vixen. More on that later in another post :D

Got in a bit late today, at least for me. Not used to getting in after 3PM

The skies were hazy. Still, I took out my Ca-K setup and gave it a go.

I find this to be the oddest thing. If I took out my white light setup the results would be a mess. I've tried under skies like these today and it doesn't work. Yet this wavelength works great! I don't know if it's because of the filters I'm using or the nature of the scope or both, but the results were better than I thought. I've used this scope under hazy skies before, but today was the worst sies I've tried. I almost didn't bother, but I'm glad I did.

This is my sky conditions after I took 7 sets of 2000 frames in Sharpcap. My exposure on a good day is between 8-10, today it was over 16. Yet I was still getting over 100 FPS.

And here's the results. Three of the stacks has a really good quality graph in AS3 so I picked the best. AR3600 is here, as well as the speck that is 3601. The two un-numbered spots above AR3600 and 3599 I'm guessing will be 3602 & 3.

Alrighty. I need to shower, start dinner, and get back to someone on here :D

Have a good day/night all!

Nice setup and session, looks a bit hazy for sure.

The focuser is holding well more than its weight easily!

The high cloud doesn't appear to have affected your image at all Mark. The Calcium K is still showing the faculae really well.
