The Gaganyaan mission is India's first human space mission. It is a project by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to send a 4-person crew to space for five to seven days.

The mission's objective is to send a crew into space at a low Earth orbit of 400 km for three days and bring them back safely to Earth.

The Gaganyaan mission will use the ISRO's LVM3 rocket, a heavy lift launcher that consists of a solid stage, liquid stage, and cryogenic stage. All systems in the LVM3 are reconfigured to meet human rating requirements and are christened Human Rated LVM3.

So, they are not going to ISS, will be just orbiting in their module for a few days?

Since it seems they are just doing proof of concept testing like Soyuz, Mercury and Gemini programs there is no use in going to ISS.

I suppose they're taking it one step at a time.
