Feb 20th Moon and Aldebaran

#1

Post by Thefatkitty »

Hi all,

I had a clear day today; took some frames of ol' Sol, and the clouds held off long enough for me to take some Moon pics.
Aldebaran was two degrees away from the Moon tonight as well, so I took out my 60mm f/7 Towatron with my EOS550D.
This is a stacked combination of two shots; one for the Moon, and another with the Moon very blown out, but the star shows up :D

The last time I caught these two together was March 22, 2018, again with my Towatron. It's happened many times since, but skies/timing/life always seem to get in the way...

Nice to have a re-visit.

In the west I could see the dark clouds rolling in. Still, I had enough time to get my C80-HD and mount and set that all up.
Using my DSLR again, I took 113 pics before the wisps of the clouds showed up in the camera viewfinder. The best 10% of that stacked with PIPP and AS3.

I'm happy to say I used three telescopes today. My WO 61mm for the Sun, and the above mentioned two for the Moon. Now all I need to do is maybe finally if ever get in some visual??!!

All the best,
Mark
