On Monday evening I went out for my first observing session of the new year. From dusk until 7:30 I was chasing comet 12P / Pons-Brooks. I already posted that picture a few days ago.
At 7:30 I was captivated by the crescent moon and made a composite image of it. I already posted that picture a couple of days ago.
It was still early in the evening when I finished the composite. I decided to switch scopes from the C11 to the ED 80 APO. That allowed me to back off to a wider field of view. I also upped the exposure and got a little funky in processing. I might have gone a bit overboard, but the picture does have an unusual moodiness about it.
Here are the settings:
Telescope: Explore Scientific ED 80 Triplet APO / .8x reducer, field flattener / Camera: Canon 80D / ISO1600 / Exposure 6/10 sec.
