New Image: 3 Day Moon

#1

Post by jrkirkham »

My first outing of the year was Monday evening. My target was 12P / Pons-Brooks. After taking both comet pictures it was still only 7:30 PM. I decided to swing the scope over toward the waxing crescent moon which dominated the evening sky. With the C11 it was impossible to get the entire moon in one shot with my Canon 80D, so I opted for a composite of four frames. Each shot used an ISO of 800 and a shutter speed of 1/125 second. I posted the comet pictures a couple of days ago. Here is the moon.

Nice stack Rob! I tried the same thing with my DSLR and homemade 60mm "Towatron" that night; I like your take much better!

Nice you got out; not been a good start to the year as far as weather goes. Hope it gets better!

Thanks for that and all the best,
Mark
