Last night, conditions were predicted to be unusually favorable, so I set up to do some double star observing.
25 years at this hobby and I finally saw the Pup. After catching it at high power, I was surprised how easy it was to see at much lower magnification.

On the Dutch forum, I also keep writing that the Pup is easier to see with slightly lower magnifications, but despite my writings there everyone stubbornly thinks one needs top magnifications for it. Completely untrue.
Twenty-five years ago, the Pup was at its least favourable position relative to Sirius A. Not surprising you didn't see it then; neither did I.
