New Image: Jupiter Closeup - February 4, 2024

It took a couple of days to process this image. The video was cropped to 320x240 and Jupiter filled the entire frame so tracking was good to get videos with a 30+ second integration. The big deal about this crop (RAW8 mode) is that I was getting ~260fps. I also found that registax wavelets seems to be a black art I am still coming to grips with. In any event I believe this concludes my test with the AVX and ASI585 on Jupiter. For now

Telescope: Celestron 8SE / AVX CGEM mount
Camera: ASI585 MC with 1.5x Dakin magic barlow

De-rotated with Winjupos

Apparent Diameter = Planet: 39.3 arc-seconds

Thanks! The thing about these current Jupiter images is Earth is many months past opposition prime-time for Jupiter. I wasn't expecting much and really just testing the new camera.

What was the aperture you used with your awesome Jupiter image? Was it larger than 8"?

Yes, I used my C11 for that image and all my planetary images.

Roger that! No wonder it is so good

Have you seen anyone with an 8" get that amount of detail? I haven't. I noticed the images with the superb detail like your image is with an 11" or 14".
