So who is this guy with all the questions

#1

Post by Flyhigh7 »

Let me start by thank all the members who have been so kind as to share their experience and knowledge with me on the topics I've been discussing. And a special thanks to all who guided my decision on buying a new Celestron Evolution 9.25 Telescope which I ordered this morning.

So who am I. After 73 years I think I'm finally starting to figure that out. :confusion-shrug:
I'm an honest man who was a Telecommunication Engineer and Computer Programmer for over 35 years. I'm retired now, divorced, no kids, live alone with 2 little budgie birds in a house in Coppell, Texas.

I was into Astronomy me back in my late 20s when I lived in Florida using a 6" reflector and a bunch of various EPs. Then I got married and had to sell the Corvette, the boat, and the Telescope was taking up too much room. I sold the scope but she didn't last too long.

My hobbies are writing music in my home music recording studio. I play several instruments. Well, I USED to play several instruments as arthritis has taken the fun out of my music hobby completely.

I used to be a Private Pilot when I lived in Florida and enjoyed flying down to the keys and up to Daytona in those little Cessna planes you see at small airports. That gets very expensive so I gave that up for the Microsoft Flight Simulator which is amazingly accurate.

I used to own and operate online Sports Fantasy Leagues offering leagues in NASCAR Cup racing and NFL Football. Sold that when I retired from my day job.

Now I'm getting back into Astronomy and my Doctor convinced me to join the local Family Gym so I try to workout 3 times a week and ride my bike 5 miles a day weather permitting.

In closing, I thank this board and it's members and I'm very impressed with the friendly, professional, and informative nature of the all the members.

Regards to all,
Nick

Yes they are. My guys constantly fight over the food and the toys. I put out 3 trays of the same food for only 2 birds yet whatever the first bird goes to the other bird has to go to that same tray. And it's the same thing with the chew toys. LOL
They are like 5 yr old children brothers! That's mine! No, it's mine! I got her first!

Welcome, Nick!

I am also a former pilot, (mostly) former musician, former computer programmer/analyst. My fun these days is volunteering in amateur theatre. Plus astronomy / astrophotography, of course, if the weather would ever improve.

Does your Budgy have a mate or somebody he can play with often as they are very social birds. My first budgy was very friendly with me so I treated him to another budgy playmate. They are both males and they have bonded well but no the first Budgy doesn't come to me and he won't let the other bird come to me.

Ours is very territorial so no plamates. But he seems very happy. He loves Latin music and sings alone with Alexa whole day. When we try to put a different station on he complains loudly.

That's funny. My guys will sing Beach Boys Songs with me when I put on the Pet Sounds album and sing with them. LOL
