It' been a good while since I last posted. Life gets in the way and we all know time flies.
I am happy to have returned to a forum well stocked with discussions. Since my last post I actually pulled the trigger (2x actually) and got myself a new prized possesion.
After buying the vintage long tube refractor I kind of got a taste for it and after mich deliberation got myself a TS Photoline 102mm f7 doublet from APM. It boasts fpl53 glass and at grand of euros, it was roughly 300 more than I was willing to spend. Kind of thought that in the long run I will appreciate the advantage it had over fpl51 version (with a better focuser). I love pretty much everything about the scope, feels extremely well built, with a very smooth focuser. The views are what I expected and more, especially impressed with the 24mm maxvision.
I haven't actually used it as much as I would want to, but that is going to change now
My main area of improevement will need to be the mount, as I am using it on the AZGti, which obviously isn't appropriate but it manages quite well surprisingly.
One thing that I bought before (spur of the moment and preorder back in covid times) was the maxbright II bino. I bought the 18mm bco pair to use with it. Obviously I was using the baader barlow unscrewed the lens and placed on the diagonal.
The moon is breathtaking through this setup, something you get lost in and spend ridiculous amount of time i the planets unfrotunately demand a bit more power to fully appreciate, while i had crap succes with
So time has come to actually improve the setup as I will again have the time to actually spent under night skies.
I would need some advice on which items to buy, as I am looking at the following:
1. https://www.baader-planetarium.com/en/b ... -32mm.html
2. https://www.baader-planetarium.com/en/b ... t-16).html
3. https://www.baader-planetarium.com/en/g ... ight).html
I only have the 18mm bco pair and was thinking of going for the 10mm bco or apm for higher power.
Also the gpc, i am thinking if 2.6 is a better choice for higher power with those 2 pairs. I know its actually around 2.9x mag.
The idea is that in the end i would add the plossl 32mm pair from baader and use the maxbright directly screwed onto the prism and with t2 nose piece to the focuser.
I was playing with the idea of using the bayonet on the prism for quick change to mono and clicklocks scope sode for more security in holding the prism+maxbright.
Any advice would be very welcome.
And a quick photo before a moon session:
