ISS Above device.

Just became aware of this device today.
Bit pricey and after shipping and import duties a big ask.
There are plenty of apps that can tell me about the ISS and when it will pass overhead.
From the looks of it this device shows the current position with some interesting looking telemetry and alerts you when it's nearby. It also gives you live images of Earth, nice!
Looking at the world map showing where these devices have been installed, I see one at a school here in South Africa. Maybe the SKA project is inspiring a whole new young generation of aspiring scientists.

Nice if I could afford it.

I know nothing about these Raspberry goodies, always thought it was something you ordered after dinner.
Do you think it can be done, a DYI tracker?

If the software was open source then probably but I didn't see that anywhere on the article.

WARNING, if you smell plastic burning its just me thinking out loud.
I would imagine software could get the latest updates from MPC or perhaps even NASA itself. Then you would need to hook up to the live video feed from the ISS and yet more software to alert you when the station is approaching.
All of this might explain the price, a lot of work!

There are a lot of folks that already own a Raspberry Pi, if its one of the 'compatible' models it look like they let you download the software for free.

So basically they are charging for the Raspberry Pi loaded with their software.
