Hello,
I've been an on/off (not particularly serious stargazer) for about ten years.
Living in North London I don't get to use my scopes much anymore as the light pollution is so bad.
I will be selling my telescopes in the next few months as I approach retirement age and downsize so thought the best place to come was here.

Thanks for the welcome.
I'll be moving from a house to a flat so I won't have much of an opportunity to use them.
They'll only end up sitting in the spare room so I'd rather they went to good homes.
And as I'm staying in North London the light pollution remains. If I was moving to the sticks I'd probably hang on to them.

Welcome to TSS , yes normal looking thru an eyepiece in a heavy light area is virtually a stopper one can only see a few planets and thats it , in my area I could see many things but as the amount of light increased they all went away , thats why many use a camera , we call it AP and it works , and its much cheaper now than say 20 years ago
But the fact remains too much light and this hobby is gone
We live in a big city most of the time in Africa and get a lot of power cuts , during these power cuts it used to be quite good , but now most places have back up power with lots of led lights around so it now has become impossible , I cant even see the orion belt most of the time, 15 years ago or so when I started I could see the orion Nebular with virtually any size scope
