well in the mid 70's I mostly listen to led Zeplin , rolling stones, Pink Floyed, waterboys etc and my father hated it all , then I got a Neil Diamond album , hot August Night , finally he liked something that I liked , but its just gone mad now , Mr Neil must be a very rich man now

Maybe, but they famously used two sets of drums on stage. And I didn't think genre accuracy was too important after you put Adam and the Ants in the Punk box!

Adam & The Ants started out in 1977 as a punk band though they pretty much finished as New Wave.

Today punk offering is from the Dead Kennedys

Adam and the Ants were never seen as more than pop punk band wagon jumpers. Their songs were never played in the punk clubs. After the singer left the rest of the band went on to form Bow Wow Wow who were part of punk's dying embers. The movement only really lasted a couple of years but it changed the world! I was there! When it died We moved on with the originals and their roots of Ska and street life, Two Tone and Stiff Records etc.
