Huge Norman coin hoard found
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-somerset-49487078
Wow, what an amazing find. Enough to purchase 500 sheep which would have made one a wealthy man at the time. Interestingly it doubles the amount of Harold coins known to exist!!! Last but not least, here is the accompanying Bayeaux tapestry from the period...(circa 1066) showing the comet which was an omen of Harold's downfall..."They wonder at the star"

Re: Huge Norman coin hoard found
Interesting article Michael, thanks. What a find for sure; once in a lifetime. They seem to be in really good shape too!
I find it ironic you should post this; I recently picked up a "treasure" of my own, Sky & Telescope mags from 1986-2002, all months. I was reading the May 1997 issue before I went to bed last night:
Harold wasn't the only one!
All the best and thanks,
