Elder daughter got me hooked on the very soap-opera-ish video series "Revenge". That was all fun and good with totally absurd plot twists. But problems arose when I began to associate the title theme with the Fate Motif from Bizet's Carmen. It's slightly altered. In Revenge the motif simply descends. In Carmen there is a little wiggle at the end. Anyway this has resulted in the ear-wormification of Carmen.

The announcement of ice in Mercury's Prokofiev crater inspired this idea for the thread, a piece that I have often used as an encore, played by a cellist I've seen live many times.

continuing on with the autumnal equinox theme here is a unique rendering of Vivaldi's Autumn from the Four Seasons. I'm a big fan of the Europa Galante group since they are jazzy and improvisational in their approach to baroque music. by improvising, they are actually truer to the baroque esthetic than groups whose approach is more.... well... no mincing words.... pedantic. ;)

I hear so many commercials on TV lately using great songs from the past. Here is a wonderful song currently being used from Mick Fleetwood and crew, with beautiful vocals by Christine McVie. Up next, from 1987, here is Fleetwood Mac with Everywhere:

I hope that you enjoy it too.
