Re: A music thread
I'm way behind on the Music Thread. My apologies! I hope to get caught up this week.
Anyway, sitting here listening to Pink Floyd. I am on Wish You Were Here at present.
So, hat's off to Roy Harper!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Harper_(singer)
Why Roy Harper while listening to Pink Floyd? Why, he is the one doing lead vocals on "Have a Cigar".
And on another (sort of related) note...

Re: A music thread
This appeared in my news feed today. Antonio Janigro playing Faure'.
The closeup of the bow, how it moves between the bridge and fingerboard to produce brighter and darker sounds is really special.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1MVQS6 ... nKThkD_mJI
It brought back memories of my last lessons with my teacher. I had been working on Bloch's Schelomo which has a difficult passage in quarter tones. (Notes in between the notes on a piano.) He said there were only two cellists in the world who played it consistently in tune with the notation, Janigro and myself. Ah well.
Schubert sonata follows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDZf70O6_eE
Janigro was mostly based in Zagreb.

A different interpretation of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, performed by Red Priest.
Red Priest is the only early music group in the world to have been compared in the press to the Rolling Stones, Jackson Pollock, the Marx Brothers, Spike Jones and the Cirque du Soleil.

Re: A music thread
Hi all. Here is a favorite of ours. Although there have been some remakes, this English female trio did the best job on the original song (and the video), and was used in the movie Karate Kid. And, we could use a cruel summer after this rotten cruel winter that we have all had. Up next from 1984, Bananarama, with "Cruel Summer":

Re: A music thread
Hello all. Most of you know of Lorne Greene. His first role was playing Peter in the movie "The Silver Chalice" (1952). Later, he was Ben Cartwright on the Ponderosa TV show, and Adama on the Battlestar Gallactica TV show, and finally as a spokesperson for Alpo dog foods. He also recorded a hit vocal song in the early 1960's called Ringo. This was about the outlaw Johnny Ringo, and not to be confused with Ringo Starr of the Beatles. Up next, from 1964, Lorne Greene, with "Ringo":

How about a little "Death Grass"? That's one of the names I've heard for this genre. I'm really a blues rock kind of guy, but I came upon this while surfing around YouTube and it caught my attention. I offer you Holy Locust, "Tangled in Ropes.

Re: A music thread
One of Roger Waters best albums I think, great music and symbolism throughout. Very political as normal.
