ETX125EC and 68105 tripod compatible?

#1

Post by johnyjf »

I have an ETX125EC on its standard fork mount and purchased a Meade 68105 tripod which I was assured is compatible with the ETX, I can find no way of marrying the 2 items. Does anyone have any advice to give on how to fit the two together or shall I request an eBay return o mis-advised grounds? Thanks in anticipation!

If it's going to work, it is probably going to require some modification by you or an adapter of sorts. It doesn't specifically say it is compatible with the EXT line.

If the tripod has a flat top plate with a screw can you not attach the telescope base to it?

Oddly enough, that tripod doesn't have a single center screw like you would believe. I think it is made for very specific model Meade scopes.

Thanks for the replies, I fear that it can't work without an adapter of some sort which if it was ever made is no longer available.
Regards!

I eventually ground off the central boss and drilled a couple of new holes, result entirely satisfactory. Well pleased!
