Looking at Vortex monoculars. What thinks the collective mind - 8x36 or 10x36? The price difference is small. Maybe Opticron 8x42?

I'd probably use it as a pocket or briefcase carry for quick looks.

Thanks.

If you will use it for both daytime and night I would go with 8x42.

I have 7x20 and 8x25, at 10x and one eye, the image will be more difficult to view steadily, so a compact bino would prove more useful at that mag.

Yes, I have compact binos. I was thinking of getting a little more aperture.

Hi Olen,

Depends on your budget and how picky you are. The Bushnell Forge 42mm are truly superb for both day and nighttime use. Razor sharp and contrasty across the whole FOV. No compromises on quality.

If you want something more budget friendly then I recommend these

Nice and sharp and contrasty in the centre but with some falloff in sharpness towards the edges at 1/4 the price of the Forges.
