I saw Halley's comet back in 1986, I was on training exercises with the South African army in the Northern Cape province here in SA.
Was a sight to behold! Forever etched into my memory!

Somewhere I have a slide of it close to the Pleiades, but I've not been able to find the box it's in.

Looking forward to it, though last time not as bright as previously. I guess it depends on the power of the solar wind.

I viewed Halley's in 1986 from South Florida. Was stationed there with the USAF. I had a Halley's observing party for the folks I worked with using my 60mm, f/15 Unitron refractor. Most weren't too impressed as a recall!
I suspect (at age 75) I'll miss the next go around...

Considering I will be nearly 100 years old at Halley's next approach to Earth. I might have to give it a miss this time round
However, I thought why not get Starry Night to let me ride along-side Halley as it plunges back into the inner Solar System.
Have fun.

Me too. I will be 91 so that seems far-fetched to make it that long!

Like many, I do not anticipate being here for the next visitation. Possible of course, but unlikely. But for those young enough to be around then, I hope it is a true visual treat for you.

Halley's Comet is what got me hooked on astrophotography. I was shooting basic star trails and stuff prior to Halley but I seem to remember this comet being the first time I attempted to attach my camera to the telescope.
