I have always had a great interest in that star, as well as the whole constellation of Orion. Betelgeuse just seems to stand out so much because of it's size and color.

Betelgeuse's instances of "fading" in recent years is very interesting. Not sure what's causing it. Also, it has always been a great example of a classic red giant.
