Poll - What Should I Image?

Good evening all,

Looks like I will be able to get out again this coming Wednesday evening. Two targets have caught my eye. The North American Nebula and the Heart Nebula. I'm planning on 4 hours worth of lights with 120 second subs on my Sony a7 IV. I could go either way with the targets, so I thought it might be interesting to see if anyone would care to cast a vote. Simple majority wins. Which should I image?

I guess if no one speaks up, I will just flip a coin,

Triangulum with my current scope just won't be all that impressive. It's lower on my priority list for now.

The North America Nebula comes with a free Pelican at the right FOV!

Watch out for Deneb though.

Hi Lyle,

They are both beautiful targets.
I really don't know how nice your skies are, but you really should image both!
With straight up processing, as most emission nebulae, both are seas of red. Especially the NA. Both do however, lend themselves to alternate pallets which really looks cool and brings out more details.

Personally, I would pick the earliest one to rise in the east. Then, if skies permit, you can image the other target next.

I hear you, Jim. However, I really want to maximize my signal to noise ratio on just a single target, so I'm going to focus on just one. Seems like the NAN is ahead so far.

Well, I'm about to head off to image the NAN. Going to be a cold night in the mountains!

Well, last night wasn't a total success, but it wasn't a total failure either.

Some lingering clouds delayed my start time. Once I did start imaging the NAN, everything was going well for an hour and 45 minutes. Then some more clouds rolled in, obscuring part of the sky and my target. So, I turned away to a clear area and was able to image M45 for an hour and 20 minutes. Not really much time on either target, but hopefully I will be able to add to both data sets eventually. The data I did get looks pretty solid.
