Moon 10-24-23

#1

Post by Thefatkitty »

I got in this afternoon to cloudy skies, but it cleared up later on in the evening. It's 17C (65F) outside, unseansonably warm and a good time to have a beer and shoot the 80% illuminated Moon with my old C80-HD and Canon EOS 550D and Baader UV/IR filter.

A couple of months ago I replaced the stock focuser with a GSO focuser and finderscope. Those two items cost what I paid for the scope, CG4 mount and camera second hand, so with the UV/IR filter, about $600 CDN total for all this. I think it's well worth it; this scope/mout/camera combo has been my lunar/WL solar workhorse for years.

This is a process of tonights 165 pics at ISO 800 and 1/500th sec exp done with PIPP, and the best 25 stacked in AS3. No post processing at all; I tried and it just looks better with none :D

Here's hoping for more clear skies!

All the best,
Mark
