They opened the box, then pulled on the tube, which caused the marks on the tube.
the screw was in the locked position.
for the cover no idea.
now the tube makes noise and cannot fit into the telescope unless it is pushed inside by force.

Faye at Lunt can't believe it, she's never seen this before.
They will see what they can do with that.

in the meantime I'm fuming..

PS : it's nothing to do with the Lunt manufacturer and the seller.

I hope customs do the right thing. Why they would play with the scope in the first place?

There was a time when I was observing from the yard with my Dob and folks walking by thought it was a mortar or something like that. Curious customs officials I guess.

You should be, that kind of bureaucratic behavior by customs is both uncalled for and unnecessary.

thanks mark,
It's not pleasant, I guess they had a good reason.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

thanks Jeff,
I'm going to see what they're going to do, the process is going to follow its course and I'm going to wait some more.

I hope this gets cleared up soon for you. The ignorance of the customs person(s) truly amazes me!

Hopefully, this gets resolved, one way or another. I would love to be on the phone to hear the discussions between Lunt and customs.
