here is an update.
as you already know, they have sniffer dogs , and one dog sat near the telescope box.
the rest you know too.
after checking the customs officer realized that hit was the wrong box that he opened and the damage was already done .
so after discussions with the seller and customs, they are ready to compensate me.
It remains to be seen how and what the compensation will be.
They told me that I should have news this week, it's already Wednesday but hey we'll see.

the dealer says if they are willing to pay say half the cost, he will ask for an 80mm mt.
This is where I am right now.
in any case I will have to wait again regardless of the 60mm mt model or the 80mm mt.

I thank you all for the messages and the follow-up, it is very appreciated.
stay tuned for the conclusion of this saga, which is brought to you by (your choice of sponsors here) lol

Hopefully this will be done soon for you.
A very poop excuse though as I am not sure how a dog would be operating a focuser...

Well here is the latest news from the saga.
Lunt contacted me to tell me that the 60mt will be returned to them and that customs will pay the difference between the 60mt and the 80 mt.

the 80 will have a bf 1200, the solar finder, the storage box, an 8 inch dovetail and the rack and pinion as a focuser.
Lunt said they are going to put other gadgets too.

so I get an 80 at the price of a 60.
but I start waiting again for 3 to 4 months.
such is life .

Hopefully the dog will be in charge this time and will keep his handler away from the telescope... ;)

Oh gosh - 3 to 4 months??? When I bought my 102 XLT last November/December HighPoint said they were out of stock until April 2023 because Celestron's supply chain was in chaos. Suddenly I received the shipment at the end of January just in time for the comet...maybe you will be similarly fortunate.

It is a shame there is so much lead time required for Lunt to produce their scopes . In the end everyone wins , Lunt sold another scope and you will be receiving a new 80 , but in 3-4 months .........

There is not normally a huge wait time but I think the eclipse in April might have them backlogged.

yes and also the fact that they were doing business with the company Starlight Instruments and that they were already in back order doesn't help.

Mon ami, I hope you recieve your scope soon; I feel so bad for you!

I have taken the week of for the eclipse in April. I intend to head to Niagara Falls for totality. I have a 90mm HA scope, a 60mm Ca-K and and 80mm white light scopes.

My wife and daughter are coming along for the trip and you are very welcome to join us; it's a lifetime experience.

Regardless, I hope it gets sorted out for you soon; way to go customs!!!!
