Guiding Near The Pole

I love objects that are situated within about 30Β° of the pole.

Here's my PHD2 guiding graph from tonight while imaging the Perseus Double cluster. My resolution is 1.34 arcseconds/pixel. Needless to say, my stars were round.

Good guiding is indeed very pleasing!

I would give my eyeteeth for a sub 0.5 guiding graph! πŸ˜€ Is that the CEM70?

For sure, northern targets are much easier on the equipment!

I have been meaning to image the Double Cluster for years and still haven't. Looking forward to your image JT!

That's excellent Roger! The EQ6 is a solid mount.

Yes, it is a dream mount. Even at the celestial equator I'm still getting subpixel guiding, just not quite that good.

My best night with the CEM70EC. I managed this for over an hour before it finally settled in around .35" TRMS
This was with an OAG and ZWO290mm on my Explore Scientific ED152 with a .7x reducer.

I love my CEM70.

Well I can't top the guide readings quoted above but good guiding near the pole is certainly a thing! I was pointed at Alan's Monthly Challenge target C12 last night which is 30Β° away and got the best guiding I have had since I re-greased my CGX!

That is an excellent result Graeme. That must feel very satisfying.
