I used to ski very fast. Get to the top of a clear run and just tuck all the way. I knew it was time to slow down when it occured to me that falling would be a very very bad thing.Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 4:34 am My second favourite quote is; Faster Faster until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.

Before the electronics on my racing motocycle were updated the counter would start flashing 3 dashes on it (---) when you exceeded 300 kph. On the track, rolling out of the last corner onto the straight I would be trying to get it to flash
Now that it is updated it just gives me a continuous reading.

I was nicknamed "Crash" because of an incident where I inadvisably avoided crashing when I was on a bicycle......Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 4:55 pmBefore the electronics on my racing motocycle were updated the counter would start flashing 3 dashes on it (---) when you exceeded 300 kph. There was this very large hill that I and 3 others climbed out in the country. Being a bit out of shape for long rides I lagged behind. On reaching the top I decided to let gravity do the work of catching up so I started coasting downhill without braking. I could see part way down that there was a sharp curve to the left at the bottom and then (YIKES!) oncoming traffic. I leaned in on the curve but the wheels were in the gravel since I had to give clearance for the car. I could feel the delicate balance between gravity and centripetal acceleration and managed the curve with the sensation that the gravel was at the critical point of slipping and providing me with road rash. I made micro adjustments so that didn't happen.
My bicycling friends were viewing with terror from further on. Their response was the nickname and I was never invited on a country tour again. Ah well! I was just happy to have pulled it off.

Here we have a Starbucks like flies on a garbage pile and in the last few years they've opened Mattress Firms seemingly everywhere. There are two on opposite sides of the street not far from me. Can that many people need new mattresses? Actually I think it's a marketing ploy to drive all the other mattress stores out of business and then MF (interesting initials) can shut down stores as they please once they have a monopoly.
Man... That's some icky-tasting stuff!
