The math in that nuclear reactor and turkey-cooking cartoon is wrong*. Sigh.
*p.s. Ah... I see that they have corrected the graphic at https://www.energy.gov/ne/articles/info ... giving-day to refer to 1 GW of power, not the nonsensical phrase "power each hour." However, they still base their result on a silly notion of uniformly-distributing the cooking of turkeys in the USA across a 24 hour time period. How many people cook their Thanksgiving Day turkeys from 1:00 AM to 4:30 AM?
pps. "18 States" sounds like a lot, out of the 50 states total, right? But 30 million people sounds like... less than 10% of the US population. So, if they had simply included California (population ~ 39 million), it would have been... less than one state.
So...ok, that poster does belong in the jokes section.

Thanks for reassuring me that I'm not the only person who deconstructs these things on occasion.
