One Of My Very Favorite Sights

I really get a nice warm feeling every year when I see Orion rising in the morning sky.

I also love seeing Orion come back in the fall, the thing I like less, it reminds me that winter is fast approaching.

Rigel appears above our trees and shrubs at 5am, madly shifting colors until it fades about an hour later in the morning light. Always a pleasure!

Sounds corny, but I just get a feeling of well being looking at Orion. So much going on there and so many memories of viewing/photography.

Absolutely looking forward to cooler weather!
Been the hottest summer that I remember with no rain.
We got a good rain shower a few days ago and it sure is nice to get a cool down.

Nice shot, Jim and great memories. Orion was my first "real" constellation (after the Big and Little Dippers) and holds a special place for me. M42 was the cover photo on my first astronomy textbook "Exploration of the Universe" by George Abell (the 1962 edition, I believe), another reason for it having such meaning. Finally I clearly recall seeing Orion rising from the back seat of the car the morning before the 2017 TSE as we drove to South Carolina.
