August 2023 Astro Trivia Quiz

#1

Post by OzEclipse »

Welcome to August and very happy birthday to all horses in the southern hemisphere...or should that be "birthneigh!"

The August 2023 quiz is now available for you to play.

A few points:-
1. Remember, don't post spoilers here so that others can attempt the quiz with fresh eyes.

2. A few questions requiring some working out, so I've set the time limit of up to 20 minutes to attempt this quiz.

3. Scoring is ranked first by score then by how quickly you attained that score. So even if you get 9/10 in 2 minutes, someone who gets 10/10 in 18 minutes will rank higher. But someone who gets 10/10 in a shorter time will rank higher again.

4. If the time expires, your score is based only on questions answered in the allowed time period.

5. You may attempt the quiz twice, however your first attempt will be the only one that counts in rankings.

Here's the link:-
app.php/quiz/play/6

Enjoy.

Thanks Graeme,
Yes. This quiz probably took me many hours to set. I did it gradually over several weeks so it's hard to keep track. As I'm reading during the month, I'll read something and put together a question based on that or it will give me an idea to research a question. The last one took 10 mins all in one quick session and all questions came straight out of my head. Of course, I learn a lot in the process of setting the questions. 7 attempts so far for this quiz. Average score is 50% so 70% is a good score and equal highest % and second quickest time so far.

Cheers

Gosh, that was more of an exam than a quiz🧐
Didn't try to do any of the calculations, so guessed those (consistently incorrectly - never rely on me for an intuitive response being both quick and correct)
Managed 70% in 3 minutes though, so relatively happy.

OK, maybe a bit more math gymnastic than I wanted, but a fun mental challenge. Got 80%, maybe passing for a bunch of SWAGs.

I pretty much whiffed. 50% but I only took 4 minutes and didn't work out any of the problems, I just went with intuition.

Hi Michael,

50% is the average so far for this more difficult quiz. You're right on par score!

I spent 10 minutes on the math problem and decided that there was no way I was going to get an answer within the time limit of the quiz so I said screw it and just picked an answer - the wrong one!

Thank you Joe, the dedication needed to give us these quizzes is really appreciated.
