I am just chugging through these binaries like the tortoise racing the hair, and having a great time doing it. I start about an hour after sunset and am finished around midnight. I take time to learn as much about them as I can. These were my targets from last night:
Zeta Lyrae at 70x. I also snapped a picture of this one. I was interested in the way the colors look different to different people.
Sheliak at 75x and 175x. The views were much different with a little bump in power. It turned from a binary to a multiple star system. Lots of color.
Struve 2404 at 70x.
Struve 525 at 280x. I tried 565x, but it as too much. I was captivated by the orange and blue colors.
Theta Serpentis at 175x.
Albireo at 175x. Yes I know, I targeted five and listed six, but how could I not add Albireo? I also took time to snap a picture of it.
This might be my last observing report for a few days. If all goes well I plan to head for the US Virgin Islands to attend a wedding. I won't have a telescope, but I am hopeful of coming away with some nightscapes.
