Yay - 10/10 !

One educated guess, and one where I basically ruled everyone else out on the basis of their dates.

Thanks for the quiz Joe. I did not do well ....but I dont consider human space travel as astronomy and I think the Jupiter and Saturn moon question is debatable....

I should have been in Vegas! Four total guesses and four correct answers for a 10/10!

Piet,

The answer is not debatable, it is correct at the time the quiz was published and based on the most recent IAU circulars. Please take up your argument with the IAU, NASA and ESA.

As for space travel questions, when I took over the quizmaster job from Raymond Howard, I was just temporarily keeping the seat warm until he returned. Raymond spread questions between astronomy, space travel and old sci fi. I know little about old sci fi so I couldn’t set questions in that area but included & continued Raymond's space exploration theme. I personally don't have much interest in space exploration myself. It seems that Raymond isn't going to return. I did send a PM to him asking him when he wants to take over the reigns again but he has not replied.

To all,

I asked Piet to remove his spoiler comment about that question but he has chosen to leave it there. I would ask all members that if you have a gripe about a particular answer, send me a PM rather than posting spoilers on public forum. It's not fair to me and the time I put into setting these quizzes, nor to members who have yet to take the quiz. Alternatively, I can set really easy questions that don't present a challenge so everybody scores 10/10.

So far, we've had a wide range of scores from quite low to 8, to 10/10 meaning it was a challenging test that some overcame and some didn't. Success by my definition. I'll set an easy quiz next month, astronomy only for comparison purposes then we'll review after that. It's much easier for me to set easy quizzes that require a lot less research.

Thanks

Joe

7/10. I have obviously not been keeping up with the moon count of the planets. One other was a complete swing and a miss and the other I was positive I had right but, oh well :P

fun though

Flunked, 6/10, don't know my historical info as good as I should.

Still fun, keep 'em coming,
Steve
