Seaching the Sky from Nova Scotia

Hi all, happy to have found you during yet another meh night of viewing. Looking forward to following your experiences as I continue my own astro-adventure in Nova Scotia. I'm relatively new to the hobby (@18 months) and I'm having an absolute blast. My main interest is visual as I'm far too undisciplined to pursue astrophotography, although I am dabbling with EAA with limited success. Most of the time I'm just content to get out on a clear night and point a scope up to see what it can show me . . . it never ceases to amaze. Cheers!

Hi, @SkySurfer . Welcome to the forum from another Nova Scotian.
I hope you are familiar with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and their Halifax centre, one of the most active in the country. I am currently serving on the Board and on the organizing committee for Nova East, the centre's annual star party.

Wow, thanks all for this warm welcome. I wasn't expecting this.
To KathyNS: I joined the RASC Halifax Centre shortly after purchasing our first scope - 8"
dob. Haven't done much with the community yet, but did make it out to St Croix last fall. Great facility although a bit of a hike from my usual viewing location on the south shore. Not sure re: Nova East yet . . . still working out summer plans. Will definitely be making a new moon pilgrimage to Keji at some point though, possibly for the RASC party there in August

And don't forget that the May meeting is today at 1:00, accessible by Zoom if you can't make it in person.
