A Newbie Hello!

#1

Post by deci.bel »

Hello, my name is Dan. Call me Dan for short.

I'm a relatively new astrophotographer and a long-time astronomy enthusiast. I've been fascinated with the night sky since I was eight years old, even though I'm still learning where to find some deep sky targets, and the names of some prominent stars. I'm essentially a perpetual newbie. I'm here to share my passion for images I capture, admire images from others, learn more about astronomy, and meet like-minded folk.

A more intimate introduction...I'm a single father of two amazing daughters, and am turning 50 years young this Summer. And yes, I capitalize certain words, including seasons and meal times. Lol. I also try to be playfully funny, like a dorky silly kind of a guy. I'm looking forward to sharing the magic of the sky above!

Thank you all, for the warm greetings! As for music, I enjoy listening to it, but I'm not at all technical in musical theory. I do play guitar for fun, but I've been a beginner guitar player for 35 years! Haha. I'm not very technical in many things, honestly...this is why I consider myself a Newbie in so many ways. I have a pretty good understanding of many concepts, but when it comes to expressing those concepts in mathematical and/or technical terms, I fail miserably.

P.s. Speaking of being technicality illiterate, how do I edit my signature to include equipment and such things?

I must not yet have that available. It shows :

EDIT PROFILE
EDIT AVATAR
EDIT ACCOUNT SETTINGS
MANAGE REMEMBER ME

Maybe I have to be a member for a certain period of time first. Thanks for the help though, I'll keep an eye open for that option!

Interesting. Maybe you do have to have a certain # of post before you can edit your profile. Gordon, the Admin, may chime in with details or further instructions. It may be somewhere else depending on which board "style" you have selected.
Check under the UCP/Board Preferences/Edit Global Settings and choose a different board style.
Here's where it is under my current style.

Due to the potential of spammers, we have a 5-post limit on many of the features. Once you hit 5 posts you should be able to see the additional features.

Here's a link to the Welcome message in the introductions topic that explains everything.
