Hi Alan. Wow, these are amazing images on Mars from the Curiosity Rover. My first perception was a fossilized fish bone or tree branch, and then after reading the text there were others who commented on the same possibility, but a more probable cause is from a surface sand and wind swept result over time. Thanks for finding and sharing this interesting link with us Alan.
