What, like, you get a sandstorm and Tom Cruise chases you like a thing possessed? :o
Well, except for the Tom Cruise part... It does feel like that around here sometimes.

Winds today 25-30mph with gust to 65mph.
The observatory roof is still attached. I guess that's a good sign that we did something right.

Yes Graeme. That's what it's like around here sometimes. Not quite as much tumbleweed as in Pahrump but the dust is the same.

Very exciting news guys. The observatory is not 100% ready yet as I still need to get power ran to it and figure out some cable routing but since the building is now sealed and lockable I couldn't resist getting the mount installed and running.
Today was first light for the rig so what better than to image our nearest star, the Sun only one month away from the Total Solar Eclipse. After I get the exterior painted I will be done with what I call phase 1. Getting the building usable. Phase 2 will be getting the interior the way I want it to be. I still haven't done anything as far as insulation goes which will need to be done in short order before it gets into the 100's around here. Phase 3 will be the automation with a gate motor and tied into a weather station.
Here's a couple photos of rig in action and parked with the roof closed.

Congratulations on your First Light Greg.

Mine was all pre completion extension leads and a laptop! It's such a buzz to actually use the telescope in its new home after all your hard work.

Exterior is done. Worked on getting the conduit for electrical ran today. Tomorrow we pull the romex and tie everything in and we can officially put phase one to bed.

It seems as though all it has brought so far is clouds, winds, and my work schedule has doubled.
