Re-processed Image: Final Horse of season

#1

Post by sdbodin »

Actually a new process of a post from a month back of the Orion belt region and the Horsehead was captured on the edge of field, by mistake. I took great pains to NOT point at the jewels of Orion this year to allow for more underserved sights to be imaged. Anyway, an exercise in processing to see if an off-axis image would work. Seems OK, but not center of field great. Shot with the 135mm Rokinon 30 minutes of RGB and 30 minutes of Ha. Just love this lens, my stuck on an island go-to.

Original belt shot

Specifics; Rokinon 135mm telephoto, ASI1600MC-cool OSC, 30/1 min RGB w/IR cut filter at f2.8, 10/3 min Ha 12nm filter at f2.0, no flats, bats, cats, you know the rest, just raw. Full field about 40% full size, Horse full size, about 20% full field.

Clear skies,
Steve
Scopes; Meade 16 LX200, AT80LE, plus bunch just sitting around gathering dust
Cameras; Atik 460ex mono, Zwo ASI1600MC-cool, QHY5L-II color and mono

Hello Steve. An excellent re-process of your Horsehead Nebula. This new version has more nebulosity colors and details, the horse's mane shows up nicely, and the neighboring Flame Nebula is really on fire. Thanks for sharing this redo with us Steve and the best of wishes for many clear night skies.
