Does anyone have new goals for this year?

:confusion-shrug:
I've been out some this winter, but by the end of February I usually feel couped up and clouded in. March brings the hope of clearer skies and warmer nights. March also gets me excited about the possibilities of new projects. During the winter I finished off my AL observing and solar system projects. I think I am in the mood to start a project learning about doubles. I played with that over the past year, but my main project was the solar system.

Does anyone else have any new projects or goals in the works for this coming year? :Astronomer1:

More solar observing! :)

I keep getting side tracked by my seemingly endless chore list around here.
I have to remember to take some time for myself 😃

I also want to learn to sketch, I am still at the kindergarten level.

my plan is to redo solar astronomy and take full advantage of my new ts 125 mm telescope which is on the way.
I'm going to dedicate my telvue 85 to solair with an apm wedge.
I LOVE REFRACTORS , :Astronomer1: :sprefac:

REFRACTOR , TS-Optics Doublet SD-APO 125 mm f/7.8 . Lunt 80mm MT Ha Doublet Refractor .

EYEPIECES, Delos , Delite and 26mm Nagler t5 , 2 zoom Svbony 7-21 , Orion Premium Linear BinoViewer .

FILTER , Nebustar 2 tele vue . Apm solar wedge . contrast booster 2 inches .

Mounts , cg-4 motorized , eq6 pro belt drive .

As a Noob, I hope to learn . . . . something ! Only four times out, a ways to go . . .

Just started with TLaO, it floored me when they said "small scopes - 10 -12 inch". And here I thought I was doing ok with my XT8 !! ( I'm kidding; well, maybe only half kidding. I am looking at that 10" truss dob that Costco has ).

Size is all relative, personally I consider an 8 to be a rather large scope. A 10 will still be 48" long, but a 12 is about 60" long, a 14 or above you may need a ladder to view.

You also have to watch the weight, for example, if 60lbs sounds light to you, grab a 60lb bag of cement and walk around the yard with it at midnight

Oy! Where to begin?

I really want to run my new 72EDII through its paces, at home and at a dark site. I just bought a 4mm Vixen EP, so I want to see what it can do with that, especially on the moon. Couldn't split ε Lyrae this morning, but transparency didn't seem very good.

More lunar observing. The Evil Orb is up there a lot of the time, so might as well take advantage.

Do more iPhone widefield photography. Can't change any cam settings with the Nocturne app, but it takes pretty good WF pix considering the equipment.

Keep banging out open clusters - my favorite Scooby Snacks.

Keep checking U Sge to see if I can catch it in eclipse and I'm watching for χ Cyg to brighten. AAVSO lightcurve shows it's on the way up.

I'm considering getting an H-β filter just to see if it really brings out any emission nebulas at home. I sort of think the LP schmutz here is probably just too much.

And my usual equipment angst - keep or sell my ST80, ST120, 102ED?
