Newbie in SE Pa.

#1

Post by edsmx5 »

Good Morning,

I'm a complete noob, have just got my telescope(s) a month ago. I was gifted an old Galileo 5" reflector on a GEM. I had it cleaned, and when I went to pick it up, there was an Orion XT8, used, sitting in the showroom. The price seemed too good to pass up, so it came home with me ! So, before I ever put eye to lens, I now had two scopes !! The Galileo came with two Huygens EPs , 20mm, and 8 or 9 mm, not sure, they don't get used much. The XT8 came with a 25mm and a 10mm plossl, and I've since purchased a Celestron Xcel 7mm. Looking at a 28mm UWA next. Purchased (two cheap) laser collimator, "Turn Left at Orion" and "The Pocket Sky Atlas", and peices to attach my cell phone and DSLR to the scopes. Other than this new pastime, my interests are Photography ( Olympus bodies and lenses; Four-thirds mount) and my '91 Miata. Any help and/or encouragement is greatly appreciated

Hello and Welcome to the forums. With those references you are in good shape to start observing. I had a '90 miata (white) which got up to 201,000 miles on the original engine then threw a rod which damaged the valves and crankcase. Time for a new (or rebuilt) engine. That was like in 2005. My wife (ex) at the time talked me out of getting it fixed, unfortunately!
